Explore More Illinois, RAILS’ online cultural and recreational pass program for Illinois libraries, welcomes its newest attraction, Evanston History Center in Evanston!

The mission of the Evanston History Center is to collect, preserve, and share Evanston’s history to educate, inspire, and enrich the people of Evanston. To accomplish its mission, the Center focuses on presenting free public programming and managing the stewardship of extensive historical archives and collections, including the National Historic Landmark Charles Gates Dawes House. Because of the work of the Evanston History Center, our vision is that the people of Evanston will be grounded in their community and city history, to better understand how history shapes and informs the present. As a result, they will be stronger students and citizens, caring for and participating in the future of Evanston.
