When is the Consolidated Election?

The Consolidated Election will be held on Tuesday, April 1, 2025. Various offices are on the ballot, including those for municipalities, townships, parks, libraries, and school districts, among others.

What Positions Are Up for Election?

The Village President is elected for a four-year term. The Village President performs a variety of duties as required by State Statute and Village Code. These duties include serving as the presiding officer at Village Board meetings, serving as the Village’s Liquor Commissioner, and, with the advice and consent of the Village Trustees, appointment of the Village Manager, Village Attorney, Village Prosecutor, and all members of citizen Boards and Commissions except the Village Board of Trustees.

The Village Clerk is elected to a four year term primarily responsible for maintaining all official records of the Village, including minutes of Village board meetings, ordinances, resolutions, contracts, and other legal documents, acting as the primary record keeper, and serving as the local election official overseeing voter registration and elections within the Village.

The Village Board of Trustees is comprised of six Trustees who are elected to four-year terms. The Village Trustees, along with the Village President, make certain decisions to maintain and enhance the health, safety and welfare of the citizens of the Village of Glendale Heights. Each trustee represents a specific area of Glendale Heights. Residents who live in each district can vote for one trustee to represent them. For example, if a resident lives in District Two they may only vote for a District Two candidate.

  • Select the superintendent: Choose the person who will lead the district.
  • Monitor performance: Ensure the district is meeting its goals.
  • Communicate with the community: Build understanding of the district’s purpose.
  • Oversee legal and ethical standards: Ensure the district follows the law and ethical standards.
  • Represent the community: Advocate for the needs of students and teachers.

Library trustees serve 6 year-terms and are responsible for overseeing the governance and policy-making of the library district. This includes setting the library’s mission, managing the budget, hiring and evaluating the library director, advocating for the library within the community, and ensuring the library operates effectively.

Fire trustees serve 6 year-terms and are responsible for providing financial oversight and strategic planning to ensure the District’s fiscal stability while providing the highest level of services possible to its residents.

The Village of Glendale Heights and Glen Ellyn Countryside are part of Bloomingdale Township. Townships are a unit of government that do not duplicate services provided by villages, cities, counties or the state. By law, Illinois townships are charged with three basic functions:

  • General assistance for residents facing financial hardship.
  • The assessment of real estate for the basis of local taxes.
  • Maintenance of all roads and bridges outside federal, state and other local jurisdictions.

In addition, Bloomingdale Township also provides funding for mental health services, mosquito abatement, a senior center and more.

Township Trustees establish policy for the township to follow. These policies are generally carried out by the supervisor and clerk in their capacities as administrators. The town board may not establish policies for either the township assessor or the highway commissioner.

Where Can I Vote?

You can vote at any polling place in DuPage county, including Glenside Library, Glendale Lakes Golf Club, Glenside Fire Protection District, Marquardt District 15 Admin Center, and the Sports Hub, among others.
