I was a fan of Sex in the City (book and TV show) so I was interested to see how this book, The Carrie Diaries, would work in the scheme of things. It really could have been about any character as Carrie is the only one of the regulars who appear in the book except for the last page. I enjoyed the book as it brought back high school memories for me since it takes place in the 80's and has references to people and bands then, as well as an early drinking age, but I wonder if young adults now would get into it as much as I did? I consider this title an OK read, since I've read better but I’ve also read worse.
The Carrie Diaries has been made into a TV series on CW, and there’s even a follow-up to the first book titled:
Summer and the City: a Carrie Diaries Novel by the same author. These are considered Young Adult.
Can’t get enough, try checking out some DVDs of the Sex in the City TV show and movies are also available.
