Emily's Dress and Other Missing Things by Kate Burak
Claire's mother committed suicide, and her best friend disappeared. Claire's father relocates the family to Amherst for a fresh start. Claire begins to open up to her student teacher and finds solace in a museum dedicated to Emily Dickinson. One night, Claire sneaks into the museum and through certain circumstances she leaves with a dress that was on display.
With the help of Sam Tate, the student teacher, she investigates her friend's disappearance and struggles to find a way to return the dress. Claire's character develops as she comes to terms with everything that has happened in her life. The supporting characters are three-dimensional. I got pulled into the story right away.
