Favorite YA Couples - 2012 Editon

Last year, I posted my all-time favorite YA couples. This year, I am featuring couples from young adult novels that I have read in the past twelve months. I am counting sequels, so some of my all-time faves will end up on this list.

This post contains spoilers about  romantic pairings and possible romantic pairings, so stop reading if you don't want to be spoiled.

Anna and Etienne from Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins

Anna and the French Kiss

Anna and Etienne are friends first, and they fall for each other during a school year in Paris. Technically, the book came out before last February, but they appear in the companion novel Lola and the Boy Next Door (further down the list).

Clary and Jace from City of Fallen Angels by Cassandra Clare

City of Fallen Angels

Through three previous angst-filled books, Clary and Jace seemed ready to have a relationship. Although there is further angst in this book, they still manage to look out for each other.

Evie and Lend in Supernaturally by Kiersten White

Supernaturally

Evie and Lend met in Paranormalcy, and in this sequel, they try to deal with the fact that he is immortal but she is not.

Hadley and Oliver from The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E. Smith

The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight

Hadley and Oliver meet at the airport before flying to London. During the long plane ride, they get to know each other before parting at Heathrow.

Hazel and Augusts in The Fault in Our Stars by John Green

The Fault in Our Stars

Hazel and Augustus meet in a support group for teens with cancer. Reluctant to form a relationship when she knows she is terminal, Hazel grows attached to Augustus anyway. A tearjerker.

Kat and Hale from Uncommon Criminals by Ally Carter

Uncommon Criminals

Kat and Hale's relationship did not progress as much as I would have liked from Heist Society; however, the reader can tell how much they truly care about each other and support each other.

Lenzi and Alden from Shattered Souls by Mary Lindsey

Shattered Souls

Lenzi's and Alden's souls have known each other for eternity. In this most recent reincarnation, Lenzi does not recall her past as Rose, yet she finds herself falling for Alden anyway.

Lola and Cricket from Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins

Lola and the Boy Next Door

Lola had a crush on boy next door Cricket since she was a child. A misunderstanding as teenagers has kept them apart, but when he reappears in her life, they might get a second chance at a romantic relationship.

Sidney and Adrian from Bloodlines by Richelle Mead

Bloodlines

Not really a couple yet, but I have hope. Sidney is an alchemist who was raised to see vampires as evil and unnatural. Adrian is a vampire.  Maybe their relationship will progress past tentative friendship in The Golden Lily out in June.

Violet and Colin from Haunting Violet by Alyxandra Harvey

Haunting Violet

When Violet begins seeing spirits, her friend Colin believes and helps her. Soon the friendship changes into something more.

Violet and Jay from Desires of the Dead by Kimberly Derting

Desires of the Dead

Violet and Jay have been friends since childhood. In The Body Finder, they realized they had romantic feelings toward each other. In this sequel, Jay continues to support Violet who has the ability to sense the dead.
