Humans created Partials, human hybrids designed to be super soldiers. Not wanting to be slaves, these Partials attack and supposedly release the RM virus. Children from the human survivors only live a few days.  The people in power mandate that women must become pregnant each year starting at age 18, but because of rebel attacks, this age might be lowered to sixteen.

Kira, a sixteen-year-old medic, believes that medical community is using the wrong methods to cure the RM virus. She feels if she can just study a Partial then she might find a cure.

With the popularity of The Hunger Games series, there have been many dystopian novels published in the last few years. I had a hard time getting into the story as it started slow, but it is worth the effort. The action picks up, and there are plenty of twists to keep you guessing.
